One of the city’s most successful behind-the-scenes players will soon be handed some of the city’s thorniest development problems.
Kris Michell – the woman credited as the dogged force behind getting Petco Park built in the early 2000s — will become San Diego’s new projects czar, starting Nov. 8.
Here’s the top of the projects list: Expansion of the San Diego Convention Center. Redevelopment of the former Chargers stadium in Mission Valley. The city’s soaring homeless problem.
Michell, 55, will have those on her plate as the city’s new deputy chief operating officer for special projects.
